Статья посвящена одному из частных вопросов греческой ономастики, тесно связанному с историей Греции, а именно греко-понтийским фамилиям с турецким компонентом. Проанализированы характерные особенности грамматического строения данных фамилий. Рассмотрены причины заимствования фамилий. Выявлены и представлены основные типы греко-понтийских фамилий с турецкими корнями.

The development of interethnic contacts leads to linguistic borrowings, in particular, the names of things and institutions that are part of the life of neighboring peoples. The penetration of everyday life objects and institutions and their names into the cultural and linguistic space of peoples living in the neighborhood is not the only aspect of this phenomenon. Language borrowings also penetrate into sphere of anthroponymcs (studies of personal names), in particular, in onomastic, and form proper names including surnames. This is true not only for languages on ethnic groups and nations living in harmony for generations, but also (and even more so) for interrelations between conquering ethnos and conquered one. The influence of socio-political and migration processes in the Balkans and in Asia Minor, Turkish expansion primarily, caused the formation in Pontic Greeks, descendants of population of the former Trebizond Empire, caused formation not only a specific dialect of the Greek language, characterized by a considerable number of borrowings from the Turkish language, but also Turkish-like surnames.
The subject for our study is Turkish morpheme (roots) in Pontic Greek surnames. In order to research this issue, we collected the body of the most common Turkish-origin Pontic surnames in Greece and in Asia Minor and, using morphemic and etymological analysis, comparative method and method of classification, typologized it according to the morphemic and semantic grounds. It is known that most Greek surnames originate either from ancestry (from a person with one or another personal name, from a representative of a profession, from one or another dynasty or place of birth), or in the field of activity (craft or profession) or from a variety of nicknames. In case of Turkish-origin Pontic surnames,
Current studies of Pontic surnames note that their semantics are caused by crafts and professions of Turkic-speaking Pontic Greeks. However, we show that these surnames can also denote person’s appearance, his ethnic background, etc. Some of Pontic surnames consist of two Turkish roots (for example, a noun + affix to form the names of professions + ‘oglu,’ i.e. son). Sounds uncharacteristic for the Greek language are indicated by a combination of Greek letters, all the endings of these surnames are typically Greek.
We conclude that there is a need for a more detailed analysis of the array of Pontian Greek surnames. Thus, as we go forward in our studies, we believe it is advisable (i) to delineate the boundaries of the distribution of surnames with Turkish roots, determine the frequency of their use, (ii) to examine comprehensively the current language processes in all their complexity, (iii) consider this issue from the point of view of cultural linguistics and intercultural communication.
